FBI seizes items at home of former aide of Gov. Walker

About a dozen law enforcement officers, including FBI agents, raided the home of a former top aide to Gov. Scott Walker on Wednesday as part of a growing investigation into whether county employees did political work while at their jobs.

The home on Madison's east side is owned by Cynthia A. Archer, who until recently was deputy administration secretary to the Republican governor. Archer, 52, now holds a different state job but is on paid sick leave, records show.

Wisconsin governor signs controversial voter ID law

MADISON (Reuters) - The Republican governor of Wisconsin signed a bill on Wednesday that will require voters in the state to show photo identification when they go to the polls.

The measure, which Democrats characterize as a voter suppression effort but Republicans defend as a protection against fraud at the polls, will take partial effect just as nine state senators -- including six of Governor Scott Walker's Republican allies -- face recall challenges in mid-July.

Scott Walker’s divisive anti-union bill, including a complaint against Walker after he was recorded saying he and his staff considered planting political agitators

Wis. judge extends Supreme Court race recount

A judge gave Waukesha County nearly three more weeks to complete its recount in the state Supreme Court race, saying Monday that he would sacrifice speed for confidence in the county's results.

Wisconsin counties had until Monday to complete their recounts. State elections officials said they expect all the counties to be done by the end of the day except Waukesha. The county's attorney, Tom Farley, said tabulators there had completed only about a third of their work by early Monday morning.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is coming under fire for the hiring of the 27-year-old son of an influential lobbyist to an $81,500-per-year job, with critics saying it is evidence the administration is using state jobs for political payback.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Brian Deschane has no college degree, little management experience and two drunken driving convictions. Yet he was hired to a job  overseeing environmental and regulatory matters and dozens of employees.

The Wisconsin governor who sparked a massive uprising by going after public workers gobbled up big bucks from a Manhattan moneyman who got the Tea Party percolating.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker's campaign got a $43,000 campaign contribution last year from a political action committee controlled by brothers David and Charles Koch, several news outlets reported, citing Wisconsin campaign finance filings.
