Altria (formerly Philip Morris Companies, Inc.)

Altria, formerly Philip Morris Companies, Inc., is a publicly traded company based in North Carolina. Altria retains partial ownership of SABMiller PLC (formerly Miller Brewing). In 2007, the company spun off its interests in Kraft Foods, based in Illinois; in 2008, Altria spun off its interests in Philip Morris Companies.

Alrtia is a career patron of Senate President Emil Jones (D), Senate Republican Leader Frank Watson, and House Republican Leader Tom Cross.

From 1993 through June 30, 2007, Altria and its subsidiaries contributed $2,365,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 54% of which was contributed to Republicans.
