Illinois Education Association

The Illinois Education Association (IEA), headquartered in Springfield, represents 120,000 classroom teachers, higher education personnel, and retired association members from public schools located throughout Illinois. The IEA's legislative agenda includes improving state funding for public education. The Association also supported Governor Blagojevich's $500 million plan to increase school construction.

The Illinois Education Association is a career patron of Governor Rod Blagojevich (D), Attorney General Lisa Madigan (D), Secretary of State Jesse White (D), Comptroller Daniel Hynes (D), Senate President Emil Jones (D), Senate Republican Leader Frank Watson(R), Democratic Party Chair and Speaker of the House Michael Madigan (D), and House Republican Leader Tom Cross(R).

From January 1, 1993 through June 30, 2006 the Illinois Education Association contributed $11,292,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 60% of which was contributed to Democrats.
