Illinois Association of Realtors

The Illinois Association of Realtors, through its Illinois Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC), headquartered in Springfield, represents 38,000 real estate owners and agents in Illinois. RPAC was directly involved in the prevention of Cook County's proposed $75 million-dollar real estate transfer tax increase. The Association of Realtors also successfully lobbied against legislation that would have designated lead-painted homes uninhabitable. Additionally, the Association of Realtors worked to oppose legislation exempting certain banks from mortgage fee limitations.

The Association of Realtors is a career patron of State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka, House Republican Leader Tom Cross (R), and Senator Frank Watson (R).

From January 1, 1993 through June 30, 2006, Illinois Association of Realtors contributed $3.461 million to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 66% of which was contributed to Republicans.
