Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee

The Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee is a PAC representing Illinois interests of the Laborers International Union of North America. The Laborers have 50,000 members working in a variety of industries throughout the Midwest. The union, especially the Chicago-area Laborers District Council office, has been accused of tolerating mob influence. The Chicago local was ordered by a federal court to be monitored by a third party. Several former union leaders have been convicted of various financial schemes.

The Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee is a career patron of Secretary of State Jesse White (D), and Comptroller Dan Hynes (D).

From 1993 through December 31, 2002, the Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee gave $401,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 91% of which was contributed to Democrats.
