LaShawn Ford owns Ford Desired Real Estate, a brokerage on ChicagoÕs west side. In 2000, he sought the Democratic nomination for State Representative from the 8th District, losing a four-way race to incumbent Calvin Giles. In 2006, he ran again and won in a two-way race against Giles. Over four-fifths of the funds for his 2006 Primary came from the candidate or his real estate business.
