The International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades is a national labor union representing 140,000 members. Its members include painters, paintmaking, drywall finishers, carpet and tile layers and those in allied trades. The union's legislative agenda is centered on protecting the economic security of its members. Its local, District Council 30, is located in Dupage County.

Through June 30, 2006, the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades Union has contributed a total of $674,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative offices (IBPAT Washington contributed $394,000, while IBPAT Chicago contributed $234,000). 95% of these funds were contributed to Democrats.
