Family Taxpayers Network; John Roeser
John Roeser, a Barrington, IL, resident, is President of the Family Taxpayers Network, headquartered in Carpentersville, and owner of Otto Engineering. In 1994, Roeser unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for governor, losing to incumbent Jim Edgar. The Family Taxpayers Network's primary issues include the redistribution of school funding, gun rights, free speech, resistance to the statewide legalization of gambling, and opposition to abortion and gay rights. Otto Engineering specializes in the design and manufacturing of precision switches and controls used in the medical, radio, heavy equipment, aerospace, and marine industries. In 2005, FTN paid $16,486 in fines as a result of late filing of disclosure reports. The Family Taxpayers Network has strongly advocated for the resignation of Andy McKenna, Jr., Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, and Robert Kjellander, who represents Illinois on the Republican National Committee.
From 1993 to June 30, 2007, Family Taxpayers Network gave $1,640,000, 99% of which was contributed to Republicans.
Last revised September 2008.
