Comer, Gary

Gary Comer is the founder of Land's End, a direct clothing merchant. Comer, who lives in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and also has homes in Chicago, is retired; he owned 52% of Land's End's at the time the company was bought by Sears for $1.9 billion. Comer has previously donated to charitable causes including the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, the Field Museum, and a private school in Chicago, run by the De LaSalle Christian Brothers. His contribution to Lisa Madigan was his first recorded political contribution to an Illinois-state candidate. He has established a fellowship in Abrupt Climate Change.

From January 1, 1993 through June 30, 2005, Gary Comer contributed $170,000 to state executive and legislative candidates in Illinois, 85 % of which went to Democrats.
