William "Bill" Brady
William “Bill” Brady was first elected
to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1992. In 2000, he gave
up his seat to run for Congress, losing the Republican primary to
fellow state Rep. Tim Johnson. His House seat was won by Dan Brady,
who is not related. In 2002 he was appointed to serve out the remainder
of the term of Sen. John Maitland. In 2006, he sought the Republican
nomination for governor. Sen. Brady has extensive investments in
real estate holdings. One-seventh of the funds for his 2006 campaign
came from the candidate or his family.
