William "Bill" Brady

William “Bill” Brady was first elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1992. In 2000, he gave up his seat to run for Congress, losing the Republican primary to fellow state Rep. Tim Johnson. His House seat was won by Dan Brady, who is not related. In 2002 he was appointed to serve out the remainder of the term of Sen. John Maitland. In 2006, he sought the Republican nomination for governor. Sen. Brady has extensive investments in real estate holdings. One-seventh of the funds for his 2006 campaign came from the candidate or his family.
