Berrios, Chicago Ward Committeeman Joseph

Joseph Berrios, the 31st Ward of Chicago Democratic Committeeman, serves on the Cook County Board of Tax Appeals, which hears appeals for property tax assessments. He gives political contributions through two of his four active political action committees, Citizens to Re-elect Joseph Berrios and Joseph Berrios 31st Ward Alderman. He has run for several elected offices, and has four active political action committees. Combined, Berrios' PACs raised $206,000 during the last six months of 2001, and have a total balance on hand of over $1,200,000. Berrios' office came under fire in early 2002 when two staff members were found to have cut their own property taxes. Berrios later fired the two employees.

From 1993 to 2001, Chicago Committeeman Joseph Berrios' Political Committees gave $93,173 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 100% of which was contributed to Democrats.
