Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois

The Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois (AFFI) serves as the Illinois state labor association of the International Association of Firefighters. The Springfield-based AFFI represents over 180 locals, which are the recognized collective bargaining agents for nearly 14,500 full time professional firefighters throughout Illinois. The AFFI is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters, Illinois State Federation of Labor and the AFL-CIO, American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations. In May 2007, the AFFI successfully lobbied for the Firefighters Workers’ Compensation Bill, which passed in both houses as well as SB834 Fire Fighter Substitutes bill that amends the Illinois Municipal Code and the Fire District Act and SB1553 Pension: Determination of Disability, which amends the Downstate Firefighters Pension Code.

From 1993 through June 30, 2007, Fire Fighters Unions have contributed $2,071,000 ($2,7511,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative offices. 70% of these funds have been contributed to Democrats.) (FIRE FIGHTER UNIONS)
