*Meet our 2011 Paul Simon Fellows
This summer ICPR has once again a great group of Paul Simon Fellows. Erica Adams has her BA in Criminology from UIC and will start a Masters program at UIC this fall in Urban Planning and Policy. Shaleigh Jansen is a senior at Valparaiso University, where she is majoring in political science and pursuing a minor in sociology. Annie Kraft recently completed her sophomore year at DePaul University, where she majors in Political Science, and is considering adding a minor in Economics. They have been working on issues like Redistricting, FOIA, Statements of Economic Interest and organizing our Young Leaders Public Interest Seminar Series. We are very lucky to have such a great group of fellows! To read more about each one our fellows go to our website.
*ICPR's Young Leaders Public Interest Seminar Series
Our Young Leaders Public Interest Seminar Series has been a great success thus far! Our panels on Philanthropy and Law have been very both knowledgable and entertaining and have provided a variety of perspectives into careers in the public interest sector.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our fantastic group of intern-participants who have been thoroughly engaged, asking fantastically informed questions at each session. We also appreciate the help of our wonderful co-sponsors, The Union League Club, Kirkland & Ellis, McCormick Foundation and Lloyd A. Fry Foundation who have helped with space and set up for our sessions.

Yesterday's panel on Law and the Public Interest featured four dynamic individuals who spoke of their diverse experiences in the legal field. We heard from the Shriver Center's John Bouman, Rudy Lozano Jr., a longtime community organizer and candidate for State Rep., Attorney/Consultant extraordinaire Virginia Martinez, and Kate Mascarenhas is a corporate associate at Kirkland & Ellis who told us about the glories of pro-bono work.
All the interns in attendance got a better understanding the public interest sector and ways to serve the community through law.
Next week is our mid series session where interns will have an opportunity to network with one another, discuss their summer projects and have a little bit of fun as they look ahead to upcoming panels on Government & Campaigns and Media. There is still time to register, contact Nelly Viramontes nelly@ilcampaign.org for more information. You can also visit our website to download the application and see who is on our upcoming panels.
*Fall Internship Openings at ICPR/Apply Now!
Interns play an integral role at ICPR. Our small staff size offers interns the opportunity to make meaningful contributions and gain experiences in a variety of areas. Interns at ICPR have assisted with essential research projects on voter guides, political contributors and judicial campaigns. If you or someone you know is interested in applying please visit our website for the full internship description. Deadline to apply is August 5th!
