Mid-Series Session: Looking outside your internship: Wednesday, July 13

*Tell Gov. Quinn to use his veto pen on a rollback to the state's Freedom of Information Act
Lawmakers in Springfield are asking Gov. Pat Quinn to approve a rollback to the state's Freedom of Information Act -- the state law that guarantees residents access to public, government records. This proposed law would move Illinois away from a more open government by allowing public bodies to stall in responding to some requests and charge some individuals for access. Use ICPR's website to contact the governor and tell him you oppose this plan! Simply enter your contact information, select your subject, and write away!
*ICPR Lobbying Report Gets Extensive Coverage
Our annual survey of lobbying activity was covered in the Sun Times, Daily Herald, Illinois Issues, and other print outlets, as well as extensive radio coverage. Read the full report on our website.

*ICPR Commends Cook County Clerk for Economic Interest Disclosure System
Deputy Director David Morrison shared the podium with Cook County Clerk David Orr, Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon and BGA Policy honcho Emily Miller to unveil the new on-line economic interest website for all local employees within Cook County. The new system, which includes filings by Chicago workers and employees at other municipalities in Cook County, is the first in Illinois to collect and distribute Statements of Economic Interest in a web-based, electronic system. Check out the new system, and read the press release.
