New Sunshine Posted
ICPR and the Sunshine Project have been burning the midnight oil to get campaign reports for the last half of 2005 analyzed, processed and posted to the web.  Data for all statewide and legislative candidates through the end of calendar year 2005 is now available.  The Sunshine Database includes all electronic and paper filers, with donors names standardized and 96% coded, covering all 22 statewide candidates and over 250 legislative candidates.  And we hope to get 175 judicial candidates and over two dozen candidates in contested Cook County races posted soon.

Campaign Reports Updated Daily
For those of you who want data more recent than the Sunshine Database, we'll keep you up-to-date on A-1s (for receipts over $500 received in the final 30 days before an election), which are coming in now, and Pre's (receipts in excess of $150 between January 1 and February 20), which are due by March 7.  Watch your computer screens for more data.

Springfield: The Other Game in Town
The primary election season is upon us, but so is the legislative session, and as much as candidates can talk reform, only sitting legislators can enact it.  Several bills now pending deserve attention, including SB 2953 (Garrett/Dillard; IG Disclosure) SB 1955/HB 671 (Raoul/Delgado; Judicial Public Financing) HB 4073/SB 2138 (Fritchey/DelValle; Pay to Play), and SB 2847 (Schoenberg; Procurement reforms).  When the legislature is in session is the time when ideas can become laws.  Call them now to say which ideas you think should be codified.
