The Most Powerful Voice in America is Coming to Your Home!
TV viewers, reporters, academics, station staff and a few politicians gathered at the Gene Siskel Film Center to discuss The Most Powerful Voice in America: How Candidates and Voters Speak to Each Other Through the Media. Many thanks to all the people who helped make this event happen, including the speakers and panelists; Newt Minow and Carol Marin for creating an informative and entertaining keynote conversation, Thom Clark at the Community Media Workshop for logistics, Prof. Bobby Calder for his research and the Stuart Family Foundation and the Joyce Foundation for underwriting some of the costs. The event was filmed by the Illinois Channel, and so Chicago area residents can watch the whole thing when CAN TV21 broadcasts the event on Saturday, December 3 at 8 pm. Or, tune in to CAN TV 19 on Thursday, December 8 at 9 am.  You can download the conversation between Caron Marin and Newt Minow here, or read Carol Marin's commentary on broadcaster's role in covering elections.
