Gov. Blagojevich refused to answer questions today about the more than $2 million in legal fees his campaign has paid to a prominent Chicago law firm since his administration was tied to a federal corruption probe in 2005.
Campaign disclosure reports filed Tuesday showed that The Friends of Blagojevich Fund racked up $965,352 in billings with the Winston & Strawn law firm in 2007, bringing the campaign's total tab to $2.07 million since disclosures that the administration was under federal investigation in October 2005.
Blagojevich refused to answer any questions relating to the fees this morning after a news conference promoting his plan to offer free mass transit rides for senior citizens.
The governor kept silent when followed outside by reporters, offering only a shrug before entering a waiting SUV bound for the funeral of former Cook County President John Stroger.
