PALATINE -- A Harper College trustee who won election last month to the Illinois
Senate has agreed to delay his resignation from Harper's board until a January
meeting at which trustees plan to discuss a glitch-ridden software installation,
officials said Monday.
Trustee Matt Murphy will take his seat on Jan. 10, but has been asked to delay
his resignation from the Palatine college's board until Jan. 23. The board is
scheduled to meet then to discuss problems with a new computer system.
"Matt's been part of the board, and I encouraged him to stick around to discuss
the matter," said Laurie Stone, chairwoman of the board of trustees.
The college is still having trouble with software to handle student billing and
financial aid, said Phil Burdick, a college spokesman.
Murphy's successor will be appointed by the board and serve until April 2009.
