PEORIA -- A Peoria County judge said the Peoria Park District broke the law when
they destroyed an audio tape from a March meeting.
Community activist Karrie Alms filed the suit, saying the park district violated
the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
The suit also alleges the park district illegally made deals behind closed doors
about the relocation of Glen Oak School.
The Open Meetings Act says only sale price can be discussed in private.
The park district said they were talking about price.
The judge did not rule on whether the discussions violated the act. A jury is
scheduled to hear the case in January.
