U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, based in Washington, DC, gives in Illinois both directly and through a subsidiary, the Institute for Legal Reform, which is nationally active in judicial races. Most of their Illinois giving has focused on judicial contests, particularly the Supreme Court races in 2002 in the 4th District and in 2004 in the 5th District. While affiliated with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, the two are distinct organizations.
From 1993 through June 30, 2007, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce gave $3,935,000 to Illinois statewide offices. 100% of these funds were contributed to Republicans.
Last revised June 2011.
