United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, headquartered in Washington, DC, represents over 500,000 workers in the construction trades. The Brotherhood is affiliated with the Carpenters Union. Nationally, the Brotherhood of Carpenters' main political issues include fair trade and infrastructure investment. They support candidates who promote policies that they feel protect working people in North America.
From 1993 to June 30, 2006, the Carpenters Unions gave $2,889,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office (Chicago and Northeast Illinois District Council of Carpenters contributed $994,000, Mid-Central Illinois District Council of Carpenters contributed $594,000, the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners contributed $290,000, and Heartland Regional Council of Carpenters contributed $217,000). 97% of which was contributed to Democrats.
