Sears, Roebuck & Co., headquartered in Hoffman Estates, operates over 800 department stores across the United States. Kmart Holding Corp acquired Sears in March, 2005, for $11 billion and now operates under the name Sears Holding Corp. The combined companies form the third largest retailer in the country. Since 2005, Sears, Roebuck & Co. has given $111,900 in political donations. The largest amounts going to the Illinois Merchants PAC team.

From 1993 to 2001, Sears, Roebuck and Co. gave $754,925 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 60% of which went to Republicans.
