Philip, Senate President James "Pate"
Senate President James "Pate" Philip contributes to candidates through his political action committee, the James Pate Philip Campaign Fund. Philip, who resides in Wood Dale, represents the 23rd Senate District. He is a retired district sales manager for Pepperidge Farms, Inc., and served in the Illinois House from 1967-75. Philip was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 1975, and became president of the Senate in 1993. In 2003, Philip retired from office.
The James Pate Philip Campaign Fund is a career patron of unsuccessful Attorney General candidate Joseph Birkett (R). Of the $86,693 that the PAC contributed to Birkett's fund, $50,000 was in the form of a loan (as of June 30, 2002).
From 1993 to June 30, 2002, the James Pate Philip Campaign Fund contributed $1,998,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, all to Republicans.
