Penny Pritzker chairs four major corporations: TransUnion, Classic Residence by Hyatt, Pritzker Realty Group and The Parking Spot. Classic Residence by Hyatt is a national chain of luxury living communities for senior citizens. As a member of the wealthy Pritzker family, she is a billionaire and partial heir to the Hyatt hotel chain fortune. Along with her business activities, Pritzker is a prominent philanthropist in Chicago, mainly focused on education. She and her husband, Dr. Bryan Traubert, fund long-term educational reform projects through the Pritzker Traubert Family Foundation. She is the Vice-chair of the Chicago Public Education Fund, and was the Chair of the Olympic Village subcommittee of Chicago 2016. In the spring of 2008, Pritzker began serving as Barack Obama’s National Finance Chair and remained in that position through his election. She also served as the Co-chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee and currently serves on the President’s Economic Advisory Board.
From 1993 to 2001, Penny Pritzker gave $37,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, all to Democrats. Since 1994, Pritzker has given $97,373 to candidates in Illinois.
