Levine, Stuart P.

Stuart Levine, a Chicago Attorney, is one of the original shareholders in HMO America, Inc.  He was a partner in Herman, Tannebaum & Levine, a law firm specializing in health care.  He is also former president and a large shareholder of Photogen Technologies, Inc.  As a member of the Illinois Gaming Board, he opposed the building of the Emerald Casino in Rosemont before he resigned from the Board in 2001.  In 2003, Gov. Blagojevich appointed Levine to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board; he was later purged from the Board and in 2005 was indicted on charges that he corruptly denied permits to hospitals that refused to hire politically connected financiers and contractors.  Levine pleaded guilty in October 2006.

From January 1993 to June 30, 2007, Stuart Levine gave $1,604,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide and legislative office, 99% of which was contributed to Repubicans.
