IL Chamber of Commerce

The Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, represents Illinois businesses on legislative and regulatory issues. Legislative efforts in recent years have been concentrated on lowering the costs of the state's unemployment insurance and workers' compensation systems, supporting managed care as a health option for employees, reforming the state pension system, and revising the tax code. While affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Chamber is a separate entity. In 2007, the Illinois Chamber staunchly opposed former Governor Blagojevich’s gross receipts tax proposal.

Between 1993 and June 30, 2007, Illinois State Chamber of Commerce gave $2,192,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 92% of which was contributed to Republicans.

Last revised June 2011.
