Chicago Auto Trade PAC
The Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) was founded in 1904 and is the oldest and largest metropolitan new-car dealer in the country. CATA has produced the Chicago Auto Show since 1935. The organization represents dealerships that employ more than 56,000 people. In 2006 CATA opposed legislation that would release full accident reports to potential used car buyers. In 2011 CATPAC is calling upon legislators to solve the issue of car dealerships being classified as a small business while accounting for a large portion of income tax revenues throughout the state.
Through December 31, 2005, the Chicago Automobile Trade Association has contributed $345,000 to candidates for statewide constitutional and legislative office, 57% of which has been contributed to Democrats.
Last update June 2011.
