* New Sunshine Database Available Soon!
ICPR and the Sunshine Project has been hard at work this summer, analyzing campaign disclosure reports from candidates for legislative and judicial offices. With the help of our summer interns, we have examined over 150,000 contributions and 100,000 expenditures, updated the profiles of more than 100 of the state1s top donors, summarized the campaign finances of over 300 candidates, and identified over 1,000 previously uncoded contributors and vendors. Campaign finance data is now updated through June 30 of this year.
Check back daily for updates to the career patrons, contributor profiles, which will be posted throughout the week. Click here
* You Can Encourage Better Campaigns
Some of the biggest complaints about election season deal with the ads. Often, the most deplorable ads are sponsored not by the candidates but by outside groups. A new law in Illinois requires groups running ads that name or depict a candidate and that run between September 3 and Election Day to follow the same disclosure rules that candidates must follow. You can help enforce this new tool to clean up elections. Click here for more information.
