*NEW CANDIDATE EXPENDITURE PROFILES:
You've seen the candidates' television commercials and read about the high
cost of campaigning. Now, you can see exactly how much they're spending to
get their messages into your homes and win your votes.
ICPR has created a groundbreaking new Expenditure Profiles for every
candidate for Illinois Supreme Court, appellate court, and legislative and
constitutional office. Profiles provide a breakdown of candidate spending
(find out how much your candidate has spent on fundraising activities!) and
a list of each candidate's biggest expenditures (just how much did your
candidate spend on that bill board, anyway?) For the full scoop head to

*Follow the Money
Illinois candidates who get contributions of $500 or more in the month
before the election have 48 hours to report these funds to the Illinois State Board
of Elections. ICPR reviewed some of the reports which appeared on October
9th and was struck by both how large some of the contributions were (several
at $100,000+) and by how much money is flowing into Illinois from the
national parties. Check out these "A1" election reports by clicking on the
latest electronically filed documents at http://www.elections.state.il.us/

*N. Carolina Judicial Public Financing Bill Passes
Last week North Carolina legislators passed a judicial public financing bill
similar to that proposed in Illinois. Governor Mike Easley will sign this
bill into law on October 10, making North Carolina the first state in the
nation to offer Supreme Court candidates
the option of full public financing for their election campaigns. To read
the North Carolina legislation visit our website at
