*The Race is On (Blog): Shine a light on redistricting
Gov. Quinn signed into law today a redistricting bill which establishes new protections for communities, but fails to provide any guarantees that the public will be given an opportunity to watchdog and participate in the remap process. ICPR has called on the Democrats that control both chambers of the General Assembly and the governor to vet draft district maps in public, and draw borders which reflect community interests -- not political interests. To learn more, check out ICPR's blog: http://blog.ilcampaign.org
