Kane County's Circuit Court clerk said she is considering a lawsuit against the County Board again this year because the board has not adequately funded her office.

Clerk Deb Seyller appeared Wednesday before Chief Circuit Judge F. Keith Brown, who approved the hiring of an outside attorney to represent Seyller. Brown said he would review any legal fees — "Obviously, reasonable," he said — to be paid to outside counsel.

State's Attorney John Barsanti fielded the motion for an independent counsel. By law, he represents both Seyller and the County Board, putting him in conflict of interest.
