Our Opinion: New website on candidates worth visit

EDITORIAL

In two of the last three gubernatorial elections in Illinois, voters disregarded federal corruption investigations and elected governors who later would be convicted in federal court.

Operation Safe Road was well under way by November 1998, and Operation Board Games was yielding indictments a year before the 2006 election. Still, George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich, respectively, emerged victorious.

That’s not a record to be proud of, and we hope it’s a wake-up call to voters as Nov. 2 nears.
