'Out of whack': Belleville set to redistrict wards for first time in 25 years

BELLEVILLE -- Hundreds of residents may soon have new representation on the City Council because the city is set to redistrict its wards for the first time in 25 years.
In the proposed new ward map, only one alderman -- Lillian Schneider of Ward 7 -- was displaced and moved to a new ward. But because boundaries shifted, some residents may soon be living in different wards and getting to know different city leaders.
It's not yet clear how many residents would have new aldermen under the new ward boundaries. City leaders also don't know how many voters will shift because they don't have access to or use voter data when drawing the lines.
